Transcendence 1
Transcendence 1
Painting on a 24 × 24 in solid wood panel using the ancient encaustic method.
Process:
Panel: Kiln-dried, sealed, and sanded for stability and to prevent warping.
Medium: Pigments mixed into purified beeswax and damar resin, heated for use. Produces durable, luminous color and a textured surface.
Application: Multiple thin layers of melted encaustic are brushed and worked with metal tools. Each layer is fused with heat to bond the wax, creating depth and glazing not possible with oil or acrylic.
Techniques: Scraping, carving, inlay, and collage build texture and reveal layers. Reheating blends layers and refines the surface.
Finish: Surface is polished and retouched as needed, then framed or fitted with a floating rabbet for a clean presentation.
Why it stands out
Built to last: crafted with archival materials and sealed for water resistance and lasting color retention.
Luminous depth: layers of fused encaustic wax create a warm, translucent surface with subtle three-dimensional relief.
Artisan precision: each piece is hand-finished using controlled heat and expert technique for consistent, museum-quality results.
Ready to hang: mounted on a stable wood panel and delivered exhibition-ready for immediate installation and long-term display.
Dimensions: 24 × 24 in Support: Solid wood panel Medium: Pigmented beeswax with damar resin (encaustic) Condition: Completed, signed, and finished for display.
