Just finished!
There is a kind of light that does not arrive all at once.
It gathers slowly—layer by layer—settling into the surface, into the body, into memory. In this work, each wash of color holds what came before it, allowing traces to remain visible through translucency.
The forms unfold gently, like something remembered rather than observed. They do not seek definition. They soften into one another, creating a quiet continuity between what is seen and what is felt.
Working within a restrained palette, I found myself drawn into a more intimate rhythm—listening closely to each transition, each edge, each pause. The painting began to guide itself, asking only for subtlety, for patience, for trust.
This piece is part of Inheritance of Light, an ongoing exploration of how sensitivity, beauty, and creative courage are carried forward across time. What we inherit is not always tangible, but it shapes how we see—and how we remain open to seeing.
Here, light does not illuminate from outside.
It rests within. — Natasha Shoro
